Boston is the capital of and the largest city in the state of Massachusetts on the east coast of the United States. The city is one of the oldest and most affluent in the U.S.A., with an economy based on education, healthcare, finance and high technology. The city has just over 600,000 inhabitants.

Life in Boston

The population of Boston is a mix of many cultures. The Irish-American culture has had great influence on the city's political and religious institutions. In Boston you find the basketball team Boston Celtics and the baseball team Boston Red Sox. The city is very proud of its teams, and when there are home games the city is full of festivities, great atmosphere and expectation. The city is described as being very vibrant, with many cafés, restaurants, galleries and nightspots.

Climate

Boston has what may be described as a mix between wet continental climate and subtropical climate. Summers are usually very hot with high humidity, the winters are cold, windy and there is often snow. The warmest month is July, with temperatures between 18°C and 28°C, while the coldest month is January with temperatures between 2°C and 6°C.
